Change Your Space To Age in Place
Is the extreme of a nursing home or assisted living always necessary? Aging in place is the practice of living in one’s own home as long as possible, regardless of age or ability level. It allows us or our parents to remain in familiar surroundings and maintain our independence. Aging in place also can help to improve quality of life, reduce stress and save money.
Preparing for aging in place is worth the time and planning. That sense of security and familiarity can be important, especially for those who may be facing health challenges. In this session, you’ll be guided room by room to create a more age-friendly home. We’ll also address the issues of assistance when needed with tasks such as bathing, dressing, cooking, transportation and managing medications, all from your “home base.”
As the director of marketing and communication at Caring Professionals, Inc., Faigie Horowitz is also a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist with credentials from the National Association of Home Builders. She offers talks on home modifications for older adults to local and national organizations.
