Lifelong learning and community education are at the heart of what we do for you at PSS Life! University. And we’re proud to share that we have won the 2025 Customer of the Year Award for Learner Engagement from CYPHER Learning.
CYPHER operates the learning management system or LMS, that powers Life! University’s online learning center. An LMS is a digital system that hosts courses, helps learners track their participation, and supports communication with our learners. CYPHER serves clients around the globe across a wide range of industries.
In announcing the award, here’s what they said about PSS: “These winners pushed boundaries … and made learning their competitive advantage. They’re proof that when you invest in skills, the results speak for themselves.”
“Through CYPHER, we have been able to build a community of learners for people who need it most,” Jenny Pisani, Director of Life! University, told judges in her award application. Since implementing the platform in the fall of 2024, PSS has successfully transitioned from localized, one-off programming to a thriving global learning community.
This digital transformation has deepened learner retention and extended the long-term impact of PSS’s vital community resources. The platform allows learners to track their course history, visit materials, and choose from hundreds of classes in 11 distinct categories, many translated into other languages, offered both live and on-demand.
What impressed the judges:
- Learner membership grew to 1,200 in approximately one year
- An average of 75–150 new learners joined every month
- 92% Customer Satisfaction on community and knowledge center content
Live sessions now average 20 participants, with high-demand weekly courses attracting up to 80 learners. Beyond the numbers, PSS has seen a significant boost in learner confidence and competency. Older adults have become more fluid in navigating digital tools like Zoom and the learning platform itself, building essential technology skills for the modern world. This digital literacy, combined with courses on caregiving, financial planning, and retirement, has created a more resilient community.
The platform has also become a vital resource for health and wellness. By providing a “Knowledge Center” with articles on topics like seasonal depression and dementia prevention, PSS has created a lifeline for caregivers and seniors. The combination of structured learning and social connection has turned Life! University into more than just an LMS; it is a community hub that ensures older adults don’t have to walk their path alone.
“The automated tasks of reminding learners about upcoming classes, and the ability to watch events they might have missed, have expanded options for our clients that we could not have offered without CYPHER,” Pisani added.
