A History of Women in Comedy

A History of Women in Comedy

Join us to explore influential women in the world of comedy. According to presenter Geoff Kole, comedy ‐ be it theater, film, or stage – is one of the few arenas where all people are treated equally, regardless of gender, race, or religion. “”Are they funny?’ is all that matters,” Kole said. And in this webinar, he will highlight comedic women who greatly influenced the field. “Everybody’s welcome. Doesn’t matter your gender, ethnicity or religion. Turn on the mic, lift up the curtain, step on stage, and as Jerry Seinfeld once told me, ‘Just be funny.’ It’s not easy. but it’s simple. From vaudeville to the Catskills to lower East side comedy clubs to television, women in comedy have been treated as equally as men as long as they could get a laugh,” he said. Perhaps that’s why Geoff, himself a stand-up comedian, loves comedy so much and wants to share this passion with you!
