Fort Schuyler House II, Inc. is a charitable corporation under Section 201 of the Not-for-Profit Corporation Law organized exclusively to develop housing for persons of low income 62 years of age and older. Fort Schuyler House is a Project-based Section 8 apartment building with 140 apartments. Most are studio apartments – all with kitchen and bathroom facilities. There are common rooms for activities, classes, presentations and special occasions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Executive Director is a full-time, exempt position, reporting to a volunteer governing board. The Executive Director is responsible for assuring the overall operations of the senior apartment building, including but not limited to the following:
- Managing 17 employees, most full time :
- Efficient provision of Rental Administration and Tenant Services.
- Oversight of the Security Desk, Maintenance Department, Housekeeping, and the upkeep of all Public Spaces.
- Works closely with Concord Management which helps oversee the building.
- Oversees salaries and signs all contracts.
- Works closely with an independent accounting firm in the preparation of yearly tax returns and annual audit.
- Coordinates with community organizations who wish to meet at the building, such as AA, safe driving courses, wellness presentations, etc.
- Represent the Corporation to the public.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Must have five years or more of apartment management experience, preferably in senior and/or supportive housing.
• Knowledge of risk management, building operations and working with apartment tenants.
• Experience in supervision of staff and volunteers.
• Detail oriented, adaptable, organized and able to successfully manage multiple projects and tasks.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule which can include evenings, early mornings and occasional weekends.
• Excellent Office Management Skills.
• Strong computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills (written and oral).
