How to Plan for Long-Term Care, and How to Find and Access Care
Most people will need some kind of long-term care at some point. Unfortunately, it is ruinously expensive, and it’s not covered by Medicare or any other medical insurance. In New York, proper planning can protect your assets and your income, and can provide access to the Medicaid program, which does cover long-term care. Of course, applying for Medicaid, and, once approved, accessing the care you want and need, can be a daunting project.
Lamson & Cutner attorney David Cutner will describe how Elder Law planning can protect your property and life’s savings, and help you achieve Medicaid eligibility at the same time. Learn about your options, and make an informed decision, even if you think (incorrectly) that you cannot qualify.
Tara Lovett, L&C’s Director of Client Care and Advocacy, will discuss programs that are available for long-term care, and how to begin the process of finding the care you need. She will discuss aides, assisted living versus nursing home, and the Nursing Home Transition and Diversion (NHTD) program, which is designed for seniors who want to stay home even when they require a high level of care.
David Cutner is a founder of Lamson & Cutner, P.C., a preeminent Elder Law and Estate Planning firm with offices in New York City and Westchester County.
