PSS Names Nonprofit Vet Alison Zaccone New Chief Community Information Officer

NEW YORK – Seasoned communications professional Alison Zaccone joins PSS, the multiservice agency serving older New Yorkers and their caregivers, in the new position of Chief Community Information Officer.

Zaccone, a lifelong New Yorker who now lives in Astoria, Queens, brings more than 20 years of experience spanning nonprofit, higher education, and social impact sectors. Her arrival as a key member of the PSS senior leadership team signals the growth of the $13.8 million agency, which serves all five boroughs. She will oversee Life! University and professional development, in addition to communications.

Zaccone has built a career crafting compelling narratives that elevate mission-driven organizations and engage diverse audiences across multiple platforms.

What Drew Her to PSS?

“I personally think that aging is one of the most important — and unfortunately one of the most overlooked — societal issues today,” she said. “If we’re lucky, all of us will one day be a part of the aging population, and as I’ve watched my own grandparents and parents age, I’ve become keenly aware of the need so many have for more supportive services tailored to this stage of life.

“With everything I’ve learned about the amazing work PSS does to serve older adults across NYC, I am so excited for the opportunity to help elevate it,” she added.

Zaccone has a deep background in the nonprofit space. She spent a decade at the ASPCA, honing her expertise in mission-driven storytelling and communications for the national animal welfare organization. She has also contributed her skills to organizations including Bottomless Closet, a career development nonprofit; the Fashion Institute of Technology’s FIT Foundation; and CAMBA, a Brooklyn-based human services nonprofit.

“I look forward to the energy and creativity Alison will bring to the PSS mission,” said PSS Executive Director Rimas Jasin. “We will all benefit from her fresh perspective.”

Throughout her career, Zaccone has led and executed a wide range of communications initiatives — including media relations, social media strategy, internal and executive communications, fundraising campaigns, website content development, graphic design, event planning, and speechwriting. She has also represented organizations in live, on-camera television interviews. Known for her hands-on approach, she is particularly passionate about connecting directly with the communities served by her organizations — gathering and shaping authentic stories that inspire action and drive impact.

In her spare time, Alison enjoys walking local parks with her Pomsky, Flint, working on her bargain shopping blog, and exploring the city’s museums, culture, and restaurants. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English & Communications from Pace University.
