Katherine Martinez, LMSW, Deputy Director of PSS since 2008, oversees all services, programs and contracts within the growing agency. Her current projects include empowering young adults through the PSS Young Adults Success Program and the Caregiving Youth Project supporting youth in caregiving roles. Born in NYC Spanish Harlem, Katherine earned her BSW at New York University in 1992 and her MSW from the NYU School of Social Work in 1995. Katherine has served in various positions at the New York Foundation for Senior Citizens (NYFSC) and Morningside House Nursing Home. In 2003 Katherine joined PSS as Director of the Caregivers Support Program and in 2004 became Director of PSS Social Services. Katherine is a member of the NYC Department for the Aging Senior Advisory Council and has served as a Delegate-at-Large on the National Council on Aging National Institute of Senior Centers.
Barbara Hernandez, Finance Manager, has over 10 years’ nonprofit experience in management oversight of all financial functions and human resources administration. Throughout her career, Barbara has ensured the financial health of the organizations she’s worked for, and now has responsibility for effectively using public funds toward achieving PSS’s mission. Barbara holds a Master Degree in Economics: Banking and Insurance, Taxes, and Project Management from the University of Information, Technology and Management, Poland.

Martha Ferry, President of PSS Board of Directors since 2013. Her other current volunteer activity is as a member of the Session of The First Presbyterian Church in the City of New York, where she had previously served on the Board of Trustees. She has held positions as board member and treasurer at the New York Women’s Foundation, the YWCA of the City of New York and the Mount Holyoke College Alumnae Association, from which she holds an Alumnae Medal of Honor. Professionally, Martha holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and had a 20-year career in commercial banking with an international emphasis. She then moved into the not-for-profit sector, where she served as Chief Financial Officer for the Community Service Society and The Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. Following retirement in 2012, she has continued to lead workshops on the business aspects of volunteer-led nonprofits for the Association.
